Gunmen abduct 2 wives of Nasarawa State commissioner, Aliyu Tijani





Gunmen on Thursday night abducted the two wives of Nasarawa State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftain Affairs, Aliyu Tijani, from his residence in Nasarawa town.
Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Sadiq-Bello confirmed the incident on Friday in Lafia in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Sadiq-Bello said the police was on the trail of the kidnappers and would soon apprehend them.
“We are aware of the abduction and as we speak now, we have gotten information about their location and we are closing in on them,” he said.

7-year-old boy saga: Social media users lying, nobody was lynched – Lagos Commisioner





Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Steve Ayorinde, has urged residents, especially users of social media as a source of news, to be mindful of the source of their information to avoid spreading rumours.

A trigger-happy police officer has reportedly killed a commercial bus driver, identified as Saminu Bara’u, in Kaduna State.
The deceased, fondly called Danlami was shot dead in front of his house by a police operative in the Maraban Jos area of the state at about 8pm on Tuesday.
A human right activist, Mohammed Grema Adamu, on his Facebook page, shared the information, saying the father of 3, who was battling a fractured leg, was sitting outside his residence when a team of policemen on patrol stormed the area.

Man bathes neighbour with hot water in Ogun





A 31-year-old man, Victor Obi, was on Friday charged before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for alleged pouring hot water on his neighbour. Obi, who lives at N13, Adekanbi Street, Iyana-Iyesi, Ota, is facing a charge of assault.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Abdulkareem Mustapha, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Oct. 10 at about 1.30 p.m. along Obasanjo Road, Onipanu, Ota.

2-year-old boy burnt to death in Abakaliki





An inferno on Thursday burnt a 2 year-old boy and property worth millions of naira at Ekuluobia Street Kpiripiri in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi capital.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the fire which started at about 9:50 a.m. on Thursday destroyed 15 rooms.
Items destroyed by the inferno included refrigerators, mattresses, sofa, electronics, documents, among others.

The death has been announced of Abia State Treasurer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Steve Omeoga.
Omeoga reportedly slumped at a popular sport club, in Umuahia, the state capital, shortly after playing a lawn tennis game with a club member on Wednesday evening.
A member of the sports club, said after playing the game successfully, Omeoga, who did not appear too exhausted, sat down on the court.

Port Harcourt to experience 27-hour blackout





The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED), has informed residents that there will be power outage for 27 hours.
Spokesman for the company, John Onyi, revealed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday.
The disruption in electricity supply will happen between November 17 and 19, to enable PHED carry out repairs and upgrade of facilities.

An undergraduate of Imo State University ,IMSU, has confessed that she plotted her kidnap in order to extort money from her father because he is stingy despite being rich.

Applicant dupes police officer in Benue, bags 10 years jail term





A Makurdi Magistrates’ Court on Thursday sentenced 31-year-old applicant, Gideon Chubu, to 12 months imprisonment for impersonating a soldier and duping a mobile police officer of N40,000.
Chubu was arraigned on a two-count, bordering on cheating and impersonation, punishable under Section 326 of the Penal Code Laws of Benue, 2004.

Lagos residents find dead man inside bag of rice





There was pandemonium at the Oyingbo area of Lagos State after residents reportedly discovered the corpse of a man, believed to have been strangled, inside a sack of rice.
The deceased was dumped beside a canal at the Jebba bus stop on Thursday.
An eyewitness, Saheed Ijadun, told the Punch that the deceased, whose face was unfamiliar, was tied on the neck with electric cables, while his hands and legs were also tied.

Three siblings denounce Christianity in Imo, travel to Kaduna for Islamic education



Three siblings – Chinonso, Chika and Chibuzor, who hail from Chokoneze in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area, LGA, of Imo State have reportedly converted to Islam.
The news making the rounds on the social media has it that the siblings reportedly abandoned their Christian faith, embraced Islam, and headed straight to Kaduna State to undergo Islamic education.
According to a Facebook page, Islamic Calling Family, the siblings have been enrolled in Islamic school in Kaduna state to have basic Islamic education.

Man strangles step-daughter to death, sells head for N3,000





A 63-year-old man Korede Odubela, has been nabbed by police in Ogun State for allegedly killing his 16-year-old step-daughter, Amudat Oshimodi, and selling her head to his own son, Seun, a herbalist for N3,000.
It was gathered that the suspect reportedly arranged with another accomplice identified as Lekan Lawal, to commit the heinous crime at Imosan Area of Ijebu Ode Local Government Area of the state.

Man stabs father to death in Jigawa over delay to provide food





The Jigawa State Police Command on Tuesday arrested a 30-year-old man, Muhammad Adamu, who allegedly stabbed his father to death in Mairakumi village in Malammadori Local Government Area, LGA, of the state.

Car thief beaten to stupor in Abia [PHOTOS]





A yet-to-be named car thief was Tuesday nabbed in Abia State Capital, Umuahia.
He reportedly came all the way from Owerri, Imo State, to steal a car in the capital city before he was apprehended.
The thieve was apprehended while trying to steal a Toyota Camry at the popular Okpara Square in Umuahia at about 9:30 a.m.

MMM under surveillance – EFC






The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has confirmed ongoing surveillance on the MMM investment scheme.
EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, gave this indication in an interview with NIGERIANSLIFESTYLE on the sidelines of a training programme in Port Harcourt.
Uwujaren, however, said the House of Representatives cannot direct the EFCC to investigate what he described as faceless wonder bank like MMM.
